General introduction: BIS, Ho Chi Minh City is an independent co-educational day school providing British style curriculum to an international student body.  BIS is the largest international school in Vietnam with 41 nationalities represented and operates within the framework of the National Curriculum for England and Wales and is a registered centre for Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and EDEXCEL.  Students are prepared for the IGCSC and IB Diploma Programmes.  BIS also offers a ‘Foundation Programme’ and ‘Global Assessment Certificate’ as alternative pathways to Universities in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA and the UK.

The school has four campuses in Ho Chi Minh City. A Pre-school campus (Fundino) and a small primary campus operate from the Central Business District whilst the larger An Phu campuses are located in a quiet suburb close to the Saigon River. Each campus is well resourced and staffed by qualified and experienced teachers from the UK, Australia and North America.  A strong EAL department caters to the diverse needs of students who require additional language support and a strong SEN (Special Educational Needs) department supports those students needing additional learning support.

The An Phu campuses are state-of-the-art with excellent facilities, including 2 indoor 25 metre swimming pools, 2 large sports halls, grass playing firlds, science laboratories, music suites with individual rehearsal rooms, art and design studios, numerous computer suites and libraries.  The Secondary campus has an auditorium for 600+ people and a mini theatre with seating for 250 people.  Both Fundino Preschool units have their own mini swimming pools, sand pits and dedicated playgrounds with appropriate climbing and agility apparatus.

The academic year, consisting of three terms, starts mid-August and ends in early July.  The school is an active member of FOBISSEA – the Federation of British International School in South & East Asia.

The International School Hochiminh city (ISHCMC), the first international school to open in Ho Chi Minh City , was founded in 1993, and is registered as a joint venture, private company. The school is a non- denominational, co-educational and multicultural international school providing an education in the English language based on the International Baccalaureate programmes of learning.

Today the school maintains a position as a leading international educational establishment in Vietnam with accreditation status from the Council of International Schools and authorisation of the International Baccalaureate Organisation as an “IB World School.”
