Office hours

All Government offices are open from 8.00 am. to 5.00 pm. (with a one-hour lunch break) from Monday to Friday. Saturday and Sunday are holiday.

In local regions, offices are open from 7:00 am to 11:00 am. and from 1:00pm. to 5:00 p.m. Banks are open from 7:30 or 8:00 am. to 3:30pm. Banks are closed on Saturday afternoons and Sunday.

Private shops are usually open from 8:00 or 8:30 am. to 9:00 or 10:00pm.

May 1: International Labor Day (one day holiday)

May 19: Birthday of Ho Chi Minh president

September 2: National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (one day holiday)

Vietnam Traditional Lunar New Year Festival, or Tet Nguyen Dan (four day holiday): Tet holiday usually falls at the end of January or middle of February by solar calendar. The holiday begins on the eve of the last lunar month and lasts through the first three days of the Lunar New Year. This is the busiest time of a year for traveling in Vietnam. Trains, flights, hotels are always full.
