MEKONG DELTA & CAMBODIA

Saigon - Cu Chi -
Mekong Delta - Phnom Penh - Siem Reap - Angkor

This
is a newly developed trip, covering many of best
highlight of South Vietnam and Cambodia.
Day 1: Arrival
Saigon
Upon arrival at
Saigon Airport our
guide will accompany you to your
hotel and assist you checking-in.
Whilst there are no activities
planned for today, your guide will
be on hand to offer any advice and
assistance regarding your free time.
This evening, your guide will take
you out to sample some of Saigon's
superb cuisine.

Day 2: Saigon –
Mekong Delta
We set off this morning for a drive
through the Mekong Delta to Cai Be
floating market.
Here we will board our private boat
for a cruise along the maze of
waterways and canals to Vinh Long.
We will stop at the home of a Bonsai
gardener for a sumptuous Delta
lunch, before continuing our
exploration of the tributaries and
canals of the delta. We spend
tonight with a local family in a
charming home stay.

Day 3: Mekong Delta –
Saigon
This morning we bid farewell to our hosts
and board our riverboats once more
for a cruise to some floating
markets and a handicraft village
near the town of Vinh Long.
Following these visits we will once
again board our vehicle for the
drive to Ho Chi Minh City.

Day 4: Cu Chi Tunnels
& Saigon
In the morning we embark on a 1 hour
and 45 minute drive to visit the Cu
Chi Tunnels. This amazing network of
tunnels which stretched for over 250
kilometers, and was three levels
deep, gives the visitor a unique
experience and a feel of what
underground life in the American war
must have been like. After lunch we
embark on a tour of the city
including Cholon, the War Remnants
museum and the Reunification Palace.

Day 5: Saigon – Phnom
Penh
This morning we board the express
bus for Cambodia. We arrive in
Cambodia's capital city Phnom Penh
at approximately 2:00p.m. In the
afternoon we visit Wat Phnom, site
of a 13th century Pagoda.

Day 6: Phnom Penh
Today we have a full day's
sightseeing in Phnom Penh, regarded
by many as the most beautiful of all
the French-built cities in
Indochina. Included in the tour are
The Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda,
The Tuol Sleng Museum, The National
Museum and the Killing Fields.

Day 7: Phnom Penh
– Siem Reap
This morning we have an early
breakfast before transferring to the
dock to board the five-hour boat
trip to Siem Reap. Upon arrival at
Siem Reap we will check into our
hotel. Our exploration of the vast
Angkor Temple complex will start
after lunch. The oldest structures
are known as the Roulous group, and
it is here that we begin our
exploring.

Day 8: Angkor Temple
Complex
This morning we visit Banteay Kdei
Temple, then drive through the
countryside to reach the magnificent
Banteay Srei temple - the Citadel of
Women. This afternoon will be
spent visiting the largest and most
impressive temple - Angkor Wat.
Angkor Wat was built between 1112
and 1152 by King Suryavarman II. Its
layout and its scale are simply
breathtaking. From here we proceed
to the hilltop temple of Phnom
Bakheng, and as the end of the day
approaches, we climb the imposing
remains for a truly memorable
sunset.

Day 9: Angkor Temple
Complex
Today we visit the fortified Royal
City of Angkor Thom. The most
important monuments are located in
the centre of the city, namely the
Bayon, Baphoun and the Terrace of
Elephants. The Bayon in particular
is a fascinating piece of
architecture and one of the most
photographed. It is a bizarre
structure, with a total of 54 towers
elaborately decorated with over 200
enigmatic smiling faces. From Angkor
Thom we proceed to Ta Prohm temple
and then in the afternoon we drive
out to the Tonle Sap Lake,
Asia's largest inland lake to spend
a couple of hours on the water.

Day 10: Siem Reap
Today is a free day, before we
transfer to the airport for our
onward flight.
